Event of the month and a toast to the BAD CAKE label launch held at a rather secret location on the north side of the city. A rather large electronic heart was felt beating rapidly in the city with 2 rooms heaving with party people and the odd nut cracker!

Top Dj’s all round with Lil Dave and Marquis D’Alton making it all sound sweet. Congrats to all involved for providing a well needed and perfectly organised whopper of a party. We hope there is more in store for Cake lovers in Dublin.

One finely cooked party

Sitting back listening to the latest Renaissance album by Gui Boratto I reminisce about all those lost summers of events in the early 90’s. Released on the 12^th Februay it is a pleasant collection of 29 house tracks. Soft and slow BPM’s to start that will sooth you into the bassier and more melodic beats. Loaded heavily with vocals on many of the tracks and classis from last year such as Paul Kalkbrenner’s ‘Azure’ and Mathew Jonson’s ‘When love Feels like Crying’ The first cd is a chilled intro to the second which is the normal procedure with the Renaissance collections. Boratto is following your journey through the night and you can now do it all day too if you so desire.

Working hard for the Renaissance

‘Selfish’ is Hard Ton’s debut 3 track EP for Gigolo Records, an artist in the true sense of the word, and one that appears to follow the same lineage as previous label mates Fischerspooner, Tiga et al. Hard Ton, the biggest disco queen of the XXI Century. With a body that can only remind us of John Waters’ muse, a voice that confidently pulls-up to Sylvester falsettos, all set to a soundtrack that hops between accelerated beats and shameless acid sounds.

Recorded and mixed in Bologna and Venice the writing process has no rules

Using, exclusively, analogue and vintage gear from the 303, 606, 707, Oberheim DMX, Korg Monopoly, MS20, Prophet V5 the list goes on and is a calling card to any gear-nerd.

Tune to pull back out of the bag and give it another whirl this time round is the Spanish rifted track featuring smack bang in the middle of Ellen Aliens Watergate mix. Push it back out in the clubs – Nicone and Sasha Braemer – Nur Mal Kruz ! Bring the summer into your spring!

Ed Devane’s album launch ‘Molten Membrane’ is taking place in association with Earwiggle on Saturday March 6th, at the Underground @ Kennedy’s, Westland Row, Dublin 2

Ed has appeared on a plethora of edgy bass-enthused labels like Touchin’ Bass, Spacebar Sentiments, !Kaboogie and Mantrap Recordings – the latter being home to this, his debut longplayer. Also appearing on the night are Kachanski (live), Thatboytim, Eomac and Noid The Droid – all ready to get stuck in.

Doors are at 10.30pm, admission is €10, and we’re also throwing in a free copy of the cd album (a month in advance of its full release!) for your troubles
