Michael McKenna: Keep Schtum Radio
Michael McKenna started DJing in 1993. Shortly after this he became a sound engineer, and then, a producer. He worked with many artists and bands from all genres from around the country. He also DJed in many bars and clubs around Dublin, and further a field in Ireland, the UK and Europe. After a hiatus from Djing for a few years, when he lectured in Sound Engineering and Music Production for various colleges and organizations, he returned to Djing and Promoting a few years ago.
Since then he has played all over the city, including Wax, Hogans, The Globe, Ri Ra, The POD, Solas Bar, Uikio, 4 Dame Lane, Anseo and currently has residencies at Beatdown Disco in The South William and Sidesteppin’ in Bia Bar. But, Michael is probably best known as being one half of production duo ‘Keep Schtum’, who have recently been gaining a lot of attention at home and abroad for their series of disco re-edits. He has also produced under the moniker of Old Boy Network with Alan Gleeson (also the other half of Keep Schtum) and is currently continuing to work on his own solo projects and some other colaborations.
Michael hasn’t been on the radio since the days of Q95 in the mid 90′s, so it’s been a while, but looks forward to a beautiful friendship with Power FM, for a long time to come.
KEEP SCHTUM RADIO plans to join the dots between Funk, Soul, Balearic, Boogie, Disco (old, new, straight up, tripped out and cosmic) and House, while tipping it’s hat to a couple of other genres too. Expect to also hear lots of Re-edits, Reworks, Covers, Versions, Dubs and Extended Remixes.
