Hailing from Bristol UK and nurtured on a diet of mix tapes, raving in fields and drawing in school books, producer, DJ and visual artist ‘Eveson’ hasn’t let small details like ‘the real world’ put a stop to his passions of yesteryear…
Not content with designing sleeve art for renown drum and bass labels ‘Metalheadz’, ‘Exit Records’ and ‘Quarantine’, illustrating editorials and producing and selling ltd edition art prints and clothing, over the past few years, Eveson’s signature ’soulful and groove driven’ style of Drum & Bass production has found its way into the sets of the scene’s most respected DJs and producers such as, Fabio, Grooverider, LTJ Bukem, Goldie, Friction, D-Bridge and Calibre.
Now, with a multitude of record labels (including Good Looking, Creative Source, 31 Records and Shogun Ltd) releasing his music, consistent support from BBC radio 1 and digital stations alike, an ever growing demand in national and international DJ appearances, and the launch of his own ‘Channel 82′ imprint (dedicated to the fusion of art and music in physical form), ‘Eveson’ is all set to further explore the relationship between sound, aesthetic and creative thinking.

About Glen E Friedman
Glen E. Friedman is the most significant photographer of his generation. His images of the early Dogtown skateboarders in the late 1970s along with the burgeoning hip-hop and punk rock scenes of the 80s and 90s have made him one of the most important photographers today. With the uncanny ability to capture images of people whose subculture was about to change the world, his subjects range from Jay Adams and Tony Alva to Run DMC, Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys to Minor Threat and Black Flag, among many others. Over the years, Friedman has been able to define the moments of the movements that defined an era. This has cemented his place in history as an uncompromising, extremely gifted artist. Friedman’s touring exhibition Fuck You All premiered in 1997 at the Institute of Contemporary Art in London, England. Since then it has been exhibited overseas in Sydney, Australia, Harajuku and Shibuya, in Tokyo Japan, Florence, Milan, Sicily, and Rome in Italy, Berlin, Germany, Stockholm, Sweden, Antwerp, Belgium, and most recently as one of the headliners at Photomonth in Krakow, Poland, and now in Dublin.
Stateside, shows have been in Chicago, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. Friedman has had books of his work published including Fuck You Heroes, Fuck You Too, The Idealist, Dogtown – The Legend of Z-Boys (with mentor C.R. Stecyk III – it was inspiration to the award winning documentary film Dogtown and Z-Boys that Friedman co-produced); all of which are in multiple editions and pressings. And most recently with the books Recognize and Keep Your Eyes Open.
Glen E. Friedman lives in New York, NY.

AGT Rave Cru and Debasser @ The Triple-F Show

AGT Rave Cru and Debasser @ The Triple-F Show
Their set at Bloc was described in Dj Mag as a raging Sunday afternoon rave riot with their cut ‘n’ paste of tracks like “Around the World”, Reel 2 Reel’s “I like to move it” and a 15 minute Prodigy medley. Beyond insane. AGT Rave Cru are Joshu Doherty and Andy Dobson. Their sets infuse Oldschool rave classics and 90’s anthems with equal parts nostalgia and euphoria contained therein. Like ravers come ADH’DJ’s in a time without ritalin barely 8 bars go by without something new entering the mix, it’s fast-paced, full on and bloody good fun. Many agree their set at this years Life Festival was the highlight of the weekend so It was only natural that the Surge guys would bring them back over. So don your furry bras, reach for the lasers and watch your bassbins as The Triple F Show welcomes both AGT Rave CRU and Debasser to Power FM central for a proper mashup innit. Top one, nice one, get sorted. Friday night @ 9pm. later on catch the guys playing The Twisted Pepper. The lineup also includes Wicklow’s second finest export (after Avoca handweaved rugs ) Automatic Tasty who has seen his “In It For The Money” 12″ drop on Irish Imprint Lunar Disko records.
Surge Gig Blurb underneath
Surge will be taking over the main room in the Twisted Pepper to bring you two of the highlights from this years Life Festival. AGT RAVE CRU + AUTOMATIC TASTY along side One of the funkiest techno acts in the UK,, DEBASSER.
This cracking night of fun time tunage will take place on the 13th of August
AGT RAVE CRU also known as the Chas and Dave of Rave, AGT run at a hundred-tracks-an-hour on stage, mashing up rave anthems, acid hou…se, wonky, booty, fidget, old skool classics, 80’s electro, drum & bass, and whatever else happens to be tickling them at the time…all at lightning speed without ever missing a beat. Known for filling dancefloors with energy and mayhem at their residency at London’s acid-house revivalist night “I Love Acid” every last Saturday of the month, Ginglik, London.Firmly tongue-in-cheek, like a hyperactive 2manydjs meets Altern8 in Orbital glasses and hi-viz vests – it might not always be clever: but it certainly is big.
Next on the bill is one of the UK funkiest techno acts and one of the highlights of last years Bloc Festival. Debasser has been producing dance music professional since the release of his critically acclaimed “Fat Girls” Ep was released on the late Disco D’s detroit ghetto-tech label, GTI Records. The tune was quickly picked up by techno mastermind Richie Hawtin, the result of this being the re-release on Novamute records. After hitting the record boxes of a number of major heavy weights in the DJ world, including Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier and Andrew Weatherall, Debasser followed it with the bass drenched delight that was Dark Smile. The tune that launched the UK Bass genre. In November 2007 Debasser released his debut album “Negating Condiments” on WIDE Records, which received further play outs from the likes of Luke Slater, Radioactiveman and Shelley Parker.
Next up on the night is Automatic Tasty,he absolutely blew us away at life this year with his acidy live set,and with releases on lunar disco and d1 recordings coming up we surely expect great things from him….

Troy Pierce – An introduction…
Growing up in the quiet farm town of Muncie, Indiana four hours drive from Chicago and Detroit, it was hard to ignore the rich sounds emanating from these House and Techno strongholds. Troy was among the first to pick up on DJs like Derrick Carter, Jeff Mills and Richie Hawtin and was always out and about at parties in Detroit, Ohio and across the Midwest. Strangely enough though, he never thought about picking up a pair of headphones himself, preferring to leave the DJ duties to his friends. This way he could fully immerse himself in the music, especially the experimental ambient tones of the after hour chill outs.
This all changed in 1994. He moved to New York to study photography and like every student worth their salt, blew the remainder of his cash on a pair of turntables. Troy eventually hooked up with Magda at the Detroit Music Festival in 2001, who in turn introduced him to Mark Houle six months later. An immediate chemistry developed between the three of them and although Magda was now in Berlin, Mark in Windsor and Troy in New York they started swapping music files over the net. By the time the Run Stop Restore project finally crystallised into their debut release in early 2003, Troy had already moved to Berlin.
Since touching down in December 2002, he’s been letting his music do the talking. As a relative unknown, it’s never easy staking a claim in a new city, especially one with such a rich musical heritage but sure enough, through a string of successful gigs and a mixture of impressive releases on Minus [Run and Slacknoise], Underline [Louderbach] and Mo’s Ferry Productions, Troy has been attracting the right kind of attention and is now a regular performer on the European circuit.
As a DJ, attempts to categorise his style pose more questions than they answer. Minimalism in its purest form is a tag he more freely associates with labels like Consumed – ‘super sparse, difficult and totally out there’. Troy on the other hand, has developed a dance floor friendly hybrid sound that takes the best from the ‘little movements and micro trends’ that constantly spring up, helping electronic music to evolve. It retains the mechanical, futuristic sounds of techno but is slower and less abrasive allowing him to work between the lines, exploit the space between the beats and push out into the third dimension that epitomises the Minus sound.
Like his label mates, Troy is a strong advocate of cutting edge technology like Ableton Live, Final Scratch and sample tools like Cyloop. The ability to shift between these sound sources offers him unparalleled flexibility as a DJ.
On the production front, having provided the backbone of their releases, Troy wrapped up his work for UK label Underline with the eagerly anticipated Louderbach LP in 2006. Alongside this, his established status as a remixer continues to grow [check out his version of Ellen Allien’s Your Body is My Body and his reworkings of the likes of Lawrence and Donnacha Costello]. There’s other Run EP’s in the pipeline but maybe the most interesting development is the conception of a new label – Items and Things – together with Magda and Marc Houle. And if that’s not enough, there’s his full-on schedule as part of Minus’ ongoing worldwide showcase tours.

Kyle Hall – An introduction…
18 year-old wunderkind Kyle Hall has been actively involved in Detroit’s house music scene since age 11, when local legend DJ Raybone Jones taught him how to spin records. Subsequently, under the auspices of such notable mentors as Rick Wilhite (Three Chairs) and Mike Huckaby, Hall developed a rich understanding of the city’s deep house underground. By his early teens, Hall was already performing radio and club shows around the area.
Hall’s first break as a producer came at age 16, when he was approached by deep house luminary Omar-S, whose FXHE label released his debut record and introduced his music to a wider audience for the first time. Since then, Hall has enjoyed continued support from Omar-S, whose recent Fabric radio mix consisted solely of Kyle Hall productions. Thus, having enlisted the support of the Motor City’s house elite, the stage was set for Hall to gain recognition as a respected artist in his own right.
Despite being rooted in the lineage of Detroit deep house, Hall’s productions look resolutely forward and refuse to be constrained by the established formulas of the genre. This versatility has been showcased on Hall’s own Wild Oats imprint, launched in 2008. His first release on the label, The Worx of Art EP 1, not only demonstrated his mastery of deep house song forms, but also proved his ability to move seamlessly into other genres, such as the soulful hip-hop of “I < 3 Dr. Girl Friend”. Subsequent Wild Oats releases have run the gamut from jazzy instrumental collaborations (The Perfekt Sin) to disjointed hip-hop and futuristic electro (The Dirty Thouz EP). No matter what style of music Hall tries his hand at, he always leaves his own singular imprint.
Hall’s releases on Wild Oats have met with wide critical acclaim and placed him squarely on the radar of those interested in the future of electronic music. Indeed, Hall caught the attention of vanguard UK dubstep label Hyperdub, which commissioned him for a remix of Darkstar’s juggernaut anthem “Aidy’s Girl is a Computer,” one of 2009’s best-reviewed releases. With forthcoming releases on Hyperdub, Warp, and Hypercolour, it is clear that Hall is not simply a Detroit hometown hero, but an internationally renowned producer with a bright future ahead of him. Moreover, Hall is also in demand for his prowess behind the decks, with recent gigs at world-class clubs including London’s Fabric and Berlin’s Panorama Bar.
